Sony plans to bring the PS5 to more players with its Project Leonardo Controller
Sony attended CES this year, and it showed off a new controller that will help make the PG5 accessible to more people. It’s called the Project Leonardo controller, and it could let more people be able to enjoy the console.
The majority of people have fully-functional hands, and that makes the wide landscape of video games accessible to us. However, not everyone is that lucky. There are people whose hands aren’t as functional as the rest, and that makes gaming a daunting and, sometimes impossible, task.
The Project Leonardo controller will let more people play the PS5
Luckily, Sony has a solution that could help. The Japanese company has sold more than 30 million PS5 consoles, so this seems like a necessary move. It unveiled its controller kit that’s designed for physically impaired players.
It’s a controller kit with two main parts. They’re both flying saucer-shaped, and each one of them has a single joystick. You’ll see the buttons circling the top of the controllers. What’s neat about these buttons is that they can be swapped and replaced. So, you’ll be able to arrange the buttons to accommodate for the specific person.
Not only can you swap out the buttons, but you can also swap out the joystick caps. You’ll be able to suit this controller kit to the player.
At this point, this product is still in the developmental stage. We don’t know when it will actually make it to store shelves. Regardless, it seems that the company is well on its way to making a final product.
That’s to be expected, as an accessibility controller isn’t quite as radical and experimental as some of the other stuff at saw at CES. However, because of the possibilities it could open for gamers everywhere, the Project Leonardo was able to get one of our Best of CES awards.
