Xiaomi hits all the right notes with the 13 Pro, including a Leica camera
Xiaomi came to MWC 2023, with three new phones (among many other products), but the one that really caught our eye was the 13 Pro. This is their new flagship smartphone, and looking at the specs, it can really compete with the best out there. Xiaomi also now has Leica branding for their cameras, and early reviews are showing that it’s really good. Which is why the Xiaomi 13 Pro has earned our Best of MWC 2023 award.
Pro-level camera on a Xiaomi smartphone
Xiaomi has been making great phones for quite some time, but the camera never really stood up to the competition. That was until the Xiaomi 13 Pro arrived. On the 13 Pro, Xiaomi has outfitted it with three 50-megapixel cameras for wide, ultrawide and telephoto. It’s also working with Leica on these cameras, which definitely helps with the camera quality.
However, the main sensor isn’t some regular 50-megapixel sensor. This is a 1-inch sensor. Something we’re starting to see on more smartphones, but Xiaomi really optimized their software for it. This is a huge sensor, that allows more light to come in for your pictures. This provides a great low-light experience.
The metal and ceramic smartphone
Xiaomi has been using ceramic in its smartphones for quite some time. In fact, the Mi Mix 2 a few years ago was one of the first with a ceramic backing. And it’s good to see that Xiaomi is sticking with it. As it is harder than glass, meaning that it is more rugged. Of course, the Xiaomi 13 Pro also uses metal for the frame, giving you a really great feeling device in the hand. Despite this being a rather large phone, it’s still comfortable to use.
It comes in black or white ceramic. The white ceramic looks amazing, as always. With a metal frame and of course glass for the camera housing.
It also comes with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM, along with 256GB or 512GB of UFS 4.0 flash storage. And let’s not forget that stunning 6.73-inch AMOLED display that is capable of 120Hz.
