Roborock has made almost an entirely autonomous cleaning experience with the new S8 Pro Ultra.
In recent years, there has been quite a bit of innovation in the robot vacuum space. Most of it has to do with the dock and the mopping capabilities. The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra has taken all of that and brought it up a notch. For the majority of 2023, I’ve used the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra as my robot vacuum of choice – despite reviewing many of its competitors this year.
With the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, the company has taken its artificial intelligence and machine learning features to a whole new level. Since the S6 MaxV, Roborock has been touting that their vacuums can avoid cables, shoes, pet waste, scales, and really anything else on the floors in your home. However, with the S8 Pro Ultra, it has been greatly improved. With previous models, the vacuum would still get stuck or run over a cable that it was supposed to avoid. Now, that’s not the case. I used this vacuum for roughly ten months this year, and I can count on one hand how many times I needed to go and rescue it. That’s pretty impressive, to say the least.
Roborock also improved the suction this year. Now, as someone who does have a dog at home that apparently never stops shedding, that added suction power was put to the test quite a bit. And it never disappointed. With the S8 Pro Ultra, Roborock also improved the mopping capability here. So it’s now able to scrub messes on the floors better and even pick up the mop off the carpet so it doesn’t get wet.
Roborock’s new dock seems like overkill, but it’s fantastic.
Perhaps the best feature of the S8 Pro, and what makes it “Ultra,” is the new Ultra Dock. This is a pretty large dock, and for good reason. It not only empties the dustbin on the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, but it also refills the water reservoir as well as cleaning the mopping pad. All of which makes this a more autonomous experience. And let me tell you, it does a good job with all of it.
There’s a dust bag in the dock that you will need to replace after a couple of months or longer, depending on your usage. So you can schedule your Roborock S8 Pro Ultra to clean every day and really never need to touch it for a couple of weeks. Perhaps sooner if it’s doing a lot of mopping for you.
