With the Pixel Watch 2, Google has made the perfect smartwatch for Pixel phone users
Google launched its second smartwatch this year with the Pixel Watch 2 and I was genuinely surprised at how much I liked it. Though I prefer a smartwatch with a larger display, the Pixel Watch 2 is elegantly designed and the style is seamless. It is without a doubt one of the best-looking smartwatches out there. The Pixel Watch 2 also refines and improves on what the Pixel Watch was already good at. Now there aren’t a lot of changes from the first model.
But the present changes are significant in a way that could easily entice you to upgrade. For example, it comes with some very helpful safety features like Safety Check and Emergency Sharing. Both of which work to alert your emergency contacts if something happens to you. Hopefully, you’ll never have to use these. But it’s nice to know that they’re there in the event of an emergency.
The Pixel Watch 2 is also capable of pairing to a new phone without a reset. This is because of Wear OS 4. On Wear OS 3 smartwatches, you’ll need to reset the watch to factory settings if you want to pair it to a new phone.
But that isn’t a requirement for the Pixel Watch 2. Granted, this isn’t unique to the Pixel Watch 2. The last three generations of Galaxy Watches have Wear OS 4 as well. As does the first-gen Pixel Watch now. But the Pixel Watch 2 carries that seamless design of the first model while also delivering better performance like the Galaxy Watch 6 series. So it’s kind of the best of both worlds. The things we’ve mentioned so far are the reasons why all of us at Android Headlines agree that the Pixel Watch 2 is the Best Smartwatch of 2023.
The Pixel Watch 2 offers better Fitbit integration and improved heart rate sensors
These are two of the biggest features of the Pixel Watch 2 that make it stand out. Fitbit integration on the Pixel Watch 2 is unparalleled. Thanks to things like the stress management score, pace alerts, and heart rate zone alerts. The latter two factors mean you can stay on top of your pace and heart rate during a run or other exercises. The stress management score meanwhile can help you be more mindful of your stress and overall mental health during the day.
Building on that, the Pixel Watch 2 also has a new Body Response feature. This uses the multi-sensor array on the back of the watch to detect if you’re having a stress event. If it catches on it then gives you some options on how to de-stress. Such as with breathing exercises or going for a walk. Everyone deals with stress so these are nice features to have.
And of course, the improved heart rate sensors over the original Pixel Watch deliver more accurate readings. For users who plan to take advantage of the heart rate sensors often this is going to be a very significant improvement. Overall the Pixel Watch 2 is a solid smartwatch for the Android user. And its award for Best Smartwatch of 2023 is well-earned
