Chipolo is a company name you may not know, but one that you should definitely familiarize yourself with if you’re prone to losing things, because it just announced some new accessories that are compatible with the Find My Device network that Google announced at I/O this morning.
You may have seen that Google is putting out a refreshed Find My Device experience later this year. Where it’ll be much easier to locate all the things that matter most to you like your wallet, keys, headphones and more. The whole system works by way of utilizing billions of Android devices from around the world to crowdsource end-to-end encrypted data to find your lost stuff. Even if it’s not your phone.
Part of that system uses these new Chipolo accessories, which you’ll need to attach to those items that don’t have location tech built-in. They will no doubt be a useful tool for anyone who tends to be a little absent-minded. Here’s what you can look forward to when these accessories launch.
Chipolo reveals Find My Device-compatible Chipolo ONE and Chipolo CARD
There are two accessories coming as part of this launch. The Chipolo ONE Point and the Chipolo CARD Point. The Chipolo ONE is a key finder that, surprise, helps you find your lost keys. Because we all know you’ve lost your keys a time or two. We all have.
The Chipolo ONE is designed with the intention of being placed on your key ring. But you could in theory use it with whatever you can attach it to. It’s just a small round disk with a key ring hole after all. The Chipolo CARD meanwhile is as you may have guessed, a card-sized tag that’s meant to fit in your wallet with your credit cards, debit cards, and ID. Both devices are water resistant and have fairly long battery life. The Chipolo ONE will last for up to a year while Chipolo says the CARD will last for up to two years.
Batteries are replaceable on the Chipolo ONE while Chipolo offers a renewal program for the CARD. Both accessories are up for pre-order now and are shipping in the second half of July. The Chipolo ONE Point retails for $28, and the Chipolo CARD Point will be $35.
