The Fitbit app for Android now lets you manually log your body temperature. The new feature is available with version 4.06 of the app, rolling out widely via the Google Play Store. You can use an external thermometer to measure your skin temperature and manually record it on the app for helpful health insights.

Fitbit for Android gains the ability to manually log body temperature

Fitbit devices can measure skin temperature variations overnight to help identify patterns and trends. Some models have a dedicated temperature sensor, including the Fitbit Sense and Fitbit Sense 2. Others such as the Fitbit Charge 4, Fitbit Charge 5, Fitbit Charge 6, Google Pixel Watch 2 (Fitbit is a Google subsidiary), Fitbit Inspire 2, Fitbit Inspire 3, Fitbit Luxe, and Fitbit Versa series use other sensors.

While the devices automatically measure and record the skin temperature on the Fitbit app, an option to manually enter a temperature reading can be helpful. It allows users to get a more accurate reading using an external thermometer. As 9to5Google points out, this ability may have been available on the old Fitbit app for some users but was missing on the redesigned app.

The latest update for Fitbit on Android brings it. After installing version 4.06 of the app, you will notice a new “Temperature” when tapping the FAB (floating action button). It appears alongside the existing options to manually log Activity, Sleep, Food, Water, and Weight readings. You can tap it to record your body temperature that you measured externally.

Once you have saved the data, you will find a new “Body temperature” card under the “Health” section in the Today feed. The card opens a stats page with your recorded temperature data. Readings that you entered manually appear with a “Manually logged” label and a timestamp, which can be customized when making the entry. You can also delete an entry or disable the card entirely from the Customize Today page.

The update is rolling out widely

The ability to manually log your body temperature is widely rolling out to Fitbit users with the latest update for its Android app. While the temperature card adopts the new UI design, Heart rate, Sleep, Daily Readiness, Health Metrics, Weight, Body responses, Stress management, Food, and Water cards still have the old style. The company might gradually redesign the entire app. It is also readying the app for the Pixel 8 Pro’s thermometer sync integration. We will let you know when the rollout begins.
