It didn’t take Samsung long to bring One UI 5.1.1 to older Galaxy devices. Introduced with the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5, the latest version of One UI is now rolling out to the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Tab S8 series. More devices will receive this update in the coming days, including the Galaxy Z Flip 4.
As of this writing, the One UI 5.1.1 update is available to Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Tab S8 users in Europe. The new firmware build number for the foldable is F936BXXU4DWH5 (via). The updated build number for Samsung’s 2022 flagship tablets is X706BXXU5BWH6, X806BXXU5BWH6, or X906BXXU5BWH6, depending on the model. The rollout will expand to other markets, including the US, in the coming days.
Since this is a major update, the OTA (over-the-air) download size is huge, weighing well over 2.5GB. Of course, there are tons of new features and improvements to show for it. One UI 5.1.1 lets you keep up to four recently used apps on the taskbar for quick access and preserves an app’s current open state in the Recent Apps menu. It also adds two-hand drag-and-drop support for moving files between two apps.
Additionally, One UI 5.1.1 makes switching between the multi-window and pop-up views easier and lets you hide apps that are opened in pop-up windows. There are new font styles and placement options for the lock screen clock as well. This update also improves Quick Share, Private Share, Flex Mode, and several other existing features on Samsung foldables and tablets.
Most of these goodies will soon reach a bunch of other Galaxy devices. Samsung has promised to push One UI 5.1.1 to all of its recent foldables and tablets. The list includes the Galaxy Z Flip 4, Galaxy Z Fold 3, Galaxy Z Flip 3, Galaxy Z Fold 2, Galaxy Z Flip, Galaxy Tab S7 series, Galaxy Tab S6 Lite, Galaxy Tab A8, Galaxy Tab A7 Lite, Galaxy Tab Active 3, and Galaxy Tab Active 4.
Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Tab S8 will also get the Android 14 update
While One UI 5.1.1 is a major update, Samsung is readying an even bigger update for Galaxy devices. The Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy Tab S8, and others will get Android 14-based One UI 6.0 later this year. The company is currently beta-testing the new One UI version for the Galaxy S23 series. It’s expected to kick off the stable rollout in October. As always, we will keep you posted with all those releases. Meanwhile, if you’re using an eligible Galaxy device, watch out for the One UI 5.1.1 update in the coming days.
