A while back, Google brought Assistant Quick Phrases to its Pixel devices. These allow you to tell Google Assistant to perform actions without needing to say the “Hey Google” hot word. Well, according to the company, the Assistant Quick Phrases are making their way over to the Pixel Buds Pro.

There are two Quick Phrases coming to the Pixel Buds Pro

If you’re unfamiliar with Quick Phrases, you only use them in certain situations. There are only a handful of Quick Phrases out there. On your phone, when your alarm goes off, you can simply say “Snooze” or “Stop” without needing to summon the Assistant. If you’re getting a call, you’re able to silence, answer, and decline the calls as well.

When it comes to the Pixel Buds Pro, you’re getting the ability to answer and decline calls. This was announced a while back, but now it’s official. If you’re wearing your Pixel Buds, and you get a call, all you’ll have to do is say either “Answer” or “Decline”, and your phone will follow. This is great if your hands aren’t quite free. If you’re doing work or cooking, then you won’t have to interact with your phone or summon the Assistant in order to interact with the call.

How to enable Quick Phrases

There’s a chance that you won’t have this feature enabled by default. That’s okay, as it’s pretty simple to enable the Quick Phrases for your Pixel Buds Pro. Summon the Assistant on your phone by saying either “Okay Google” or “Hey Google” and say “Open Assistant settings.”

In the Assistant settings, you’ll see the Quick Phrases settings. You’ll see a list of the different scenarios when you can use the Quick Phrases. Toggle on the ones that you want to use. After that, you’ll be able to use them. The company warns that it’s possible that you’ll answer phone calls by accident. It’s possible that you could say the word “Answer” without knowing that you’re getting called. You’ll just want to be careful.
