Google Built-in is getting some big updates today at Google I/O. The big things here is that Waze is coming to more cars. Google is now rolling it out into the Play Store for vehicles with Google Built-in. That includes vehicles like the Polestar 2.
That’s not all for Waze though, as it is also rolling out some new EV specific features. This includes the ability to look up available EV charging stations that will work for your vehicle. And this works for nearby and on your route.
YouTube is also coming to Google Built-in. It’s the latest to join the video apps on Google Built-in, which is a big deal. This won’t be able to be used while you are driving, in fact you’ll need to be in park. So what’s the point? Well, you can watch YouTube while you are sitting in your car waiting for it to charge.
GameSnacks comes to Google Built-in
Google says that over a million gamers use GameSnacks per month on Android Auto. And now, it’s coming to Google Built-in. GameSnacks houses small games, hence the term “snack” in the name, that you can play on the display in your car. This is great for when you’re waiting for your EV to charge, or waiting for your significant other. Among other things.
Finally, Google Built-in is getting Google Assistant smart suggestions for messaging, over the next few months. It’s still rather crazy that this was not already available. But at least it is finally coming to Google Built-in.
Quite a few changes coming to Google Built-in at I/O this year, and Google has also stated that the number of cars with Google Built-in will double by the end of the year. We also know that Chevy is using it for all of their new EVs, which includes the Equinox EV, Blazer EV and the Silverado EV.
