With the announcement of the Pixel 7a today, many are wondering what will happen to the Pixel 6a? Well, the good news is, Google is keeping it in the lineup. Which means a price drop is on the way.

Starting today, Google is dropping the price, permanently to $349 for the Pixel 6a. That’s a bit of a surprising price, since we’ve routinely seen it on sale for $299, almost since Black Friday in November. $349 is still a great price, but at $299, it makes it even sweeter.

That leaves the lineup like this:

  • Pixel 6a – $349
  • Pixel 7a – $499
  • Pixel 7 – $599
  • Pixel 7 Pro – $899

Making Pixel even more accessible than ever before. Which is going to help Google get an even larger market share with the Pixel.

Pixel 6a is still an awesome device in 2023

Despite being a year old now, the Pixel 6a is still a really good smartphone to pick up in 2023. At this new price of $349, you’re getting a 6.1-inch FHD+ 60Hz OLED display, the Tensor chipset, 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage here. There’s also a 4410mAh capacity battery inside, which is slightly larger than the Pixel 7a. It’s very slightly larger, at just 0.5% larger.

It also has the older camera system, which is still a great camera system. That includes a 12-megapixel main sensor, and a 12-megapixel ultrawide. With a 8-megapixel front-facing sensor. The main sensor is the same camera Google used from the Pixel 2 through to the Pixel 5. Before updating it on the Pixel 6. So it’s old, but Google has made a lot of headway with it, and creating great features and photos with it.

If you’re in the market for a cheaper device, and don’t need all of the latest and greatest features, like a high-refresh rate display, then the Pixel 6a is a really great option to pick up, still.
