The new Google Pixel 7a is finally official, at Google I/O. And this year, it’s getting a price increase in the US. So how much does it actually cost?
In the US, there are two prices for the Google Pixel 7a. That’s because it comes in two variants. One with Sub-6 5G support, and one with mmWave 5G support that will be exclusive to Verizon. Here’s the pricing:
- Google Pixel 7a (Sub-6 5G) – $499
- Google Pixel 7a (mmWave 5G) – $549
These prices are up from the Pixel 6a. It’s about $50 more than last year, and in total a $100 price increase from the first a-series back in 2019 – the Pixel 3a.
Google’s Pixel 7a is bordering on flagship territory
Looking at the specs of the Pixel 7a, it’s pretty close to a flagship phone, for under $500. Though it’s not quite a flagship. But here’s the specs. The Pixel 7a has a 6.1-inch FHD+ gOLED 90Hz display, powered by the Tensor G2 processor, with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. There’s also a 4385mAh capacity battery inside, that should get you through the full day on a single charge.
Google has added “fast” charging here, with 18W charging. And 7.5W wireless charging.
Now, the cameras on the Pixel 7a are all brand new. There’s a 64-megapixel main sensor included. With a 13-megapixel ultrawide camera, and a 13-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies. All three of these cameras can record at 4K30, with the main sensor being capable of 4K60.
There are some corners cut here, compared to a Pixel 7. Like the fact that the back is still plastic. Google calls it an ano frame architecture, which does make it pretty durable. The new camera is also a smaller sensor compared to the Pixel 7. So while the megapixel count is higher, the actual sensor is smaller.
And that’s the Google Pixel 7a.
