The Google Pixel Fold is not a cheap phone, so if you’re thinking of getting it, you’re probably wondering how many updates will it get. It doesn’t make sense to invest so much, and not get proper support for the device, especially if you plan to keep it long-term.
Google has promised at least 5 years worth of security updates for the Pixel Fold
When it comes to updates, Google has promised at least 5 years of security updates for the device. The company, however, did not mention how many major OS updates will it get. We can guess, though.
For the Pixel 7a, for example, Google promised at least 3 years of major OS updates, and 5 years of security updates. So, if we had to guess, we’d say that the company will offer something similar for the Pixel Fold.
In other words, you should, at the very least, get Android 14, 15, and 16 on this device. Security updates will be rolled out until 2028, at the very least, which is always nice to hear.
The device comes with Android 13 out of the box
The Google Pixel Fold comes with Android 13, in case you’re wondering. The device will get Android 14 as soon as it becomes available. In fact, it’ll be one of the first devices to get that update, along with other Pixel phones. So you’ll have to wait a couple of months to get it, basically.
The Pixel Fold is the company’s very first foldable smartphone. This is a book-style foldable, that is more similar to the OPPO Find N2, than it is to the Galaxy Z Fold 4. It leans towards a horizontal layout when unfolded.
The Pixel Fold is also quite powerful. It includes the Google Tensor G2 SoC, 12GB of RAM, and two 120Hz displays. Those displays are more than sharp enough, while both fast wired and wireless charging are included too. If you’d like to know more about its specs, click here.
