Lenovo has decided to show off its ThinkPad X1 Fold foldable laptop at IFA. This device is a part of the company’s foldable PC lineup that was kicked off back in 2020.
This device comes with a large 16.3-inch display, which folds, of course. That is an OLED display with a resolution of 2024 x 2560, so we’re looking at a 4:3 display aspect ratio. That display also offers full DCI-P3 color gamut coverage, and Dolby Vision support.

Some of you are probably wondering what is the max brightness this display can achieve. Well, it’s 600 nits. The display also offers on-cell touch stylus support for the Lenovo Precision Pen, and the Precision Pen 2. Those pens can also be magnetized to the laptop itself.
Is the device powerful? Well, yes, kind of. It is fueled by the 12th Generation Intel Core U9 i5 and i7 CPUs. The Intel Iris Xe graphics card. It’s also equipped with up to 1 TB of PICe Gen 4 SSD storage, and up to 32GB of LPDDR5 RAM.
You will also find a 48Whr battery included here, while the device supports 65W Rapid Charge charging. Lenovo claims you can get 4 hours of use after 30 minutes of charging. A 5-megapixel camera is placed on the front side of the device.
It even comes with a nano SIM card slot
There is even a nano SIM card slot included here, in addition to two Thunderbolt 4 ports. A Type-C USB 3.2 Gen 2 port is also included, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, and 5G compatibility.
Lenovo also announced a Bluetooth keyboard for this device, with TrackPoint and haptic touchpad. Windows 11 comes pre-installed on the device, by the way.
Now, there are a number of modes that you can utilize here. Classic clamshell or laptop mode offers a 12-inch primary display with an onscreen keyboard or a full-size ThinkPad Bluetooth TrackPoint keyboard.
The Landscape mode or all-in-one mode will allow you to use the phone’s entire display, with an external keyboard attached to it, or using one separately while the device is on a stand.
The Portrait mode is for reading and editing documents, using social feeds, and so on. The Book mode can be used for proofreading and viewing digital publications, while the Tablet mode is your regular tablet mode for portrait or landscape use.
It weighs 1.28kg without accessories
The device measures 276.2 x 345.7 x 8.6mm when unfolded, and 176.4 x 276.2 x 17.4mm when folded. It weighs 1.9kg with the stand and keyboard, and 1.28kg without those.
Lenovo says that its foldable laptop will go on sale in November 2022. Its pricing starts at $2,499, by the way. As a side note, ASUS also announced a foldable laptop at IFA.
