LG has always been the company to flex its display-making muscles, and that hasn’t changed over the years. The company has been working on new and exciting OLED displays to show off. According to Tech Radar, LG showed off some impressive transparent displays at the Guggenheim Museum for an art show.
These LG displays are about 40% transparent
We’re all used to there being something opaque behind our displays. This makes sense, as displays are meant to be seen and now seen through. However, that doesn’t mean that companies like LG can’t have their fun.
During a swanky colorful art show at the Guggenheim Museum in New York City, LG displayed some transparent OLED panels for people to see. You could see right through those panels and get a look at what and who’s on the other side. There were six 55-inch displays arranged in a 2 x 3 grid.
This shouldn’t be a shocker, as LG and other companies have been developing transparent displays. This technology has been a secondary project for display makers right along with flexible displays.
LG entered a partnership to help young artists
This showcase wasn’t only an opportunity for LG to show off. The company entered a partnership with the Guggenheim Museum. This is a five-year initiative to help young creators who want to fuse art and technology. Under this new partnership, one artist will be chosen each year, and they’ll receive a $10,000 honorarium.
In Other LG News: LG Unveils Its New Ultra Short Throw Projector
Aside from making transparent displays, LG also makes projectors. The company recently unveiled its HU915QE CineBeam projector. This is a 4K HDR projector that can sit just inches from the wall to throw a screen.
If you’re using the display, you’ll be able to get a 90-inch 4K display with the projector sitting just 2 inches from the wall. You can boost it to 120 inches by sitting the projector just 7 inches from the wall.
This is definitely going to be a pricey product (north of 3 grand!), but if you have the money to pay for it, it will launch sometime in Q3 of 2022.
