A new budget Nokia smartphone has been announced, the Nokia G21. This budget smartphone actually comes with a fairly large battery, and a high refresh rate display.
The Nokia G21 has three rear cameras, and a side-facing fingerprint scanner
Let’s talk about the design first, though. The Nokia G21 features three cameras on the back, and a waterdrop display notch. Its bottom bezel is quite pronounced, unlike the other three bezels on the phone.
The power/lock button sits on the right-hand side of the device, and doubles as a fingerprint scanner. The volume up and down buttons are also placed there, above the power/lock key.
The Nokia G21 features a 6.5-inch HD+ LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate. That panel is flat, and it’s too bad it’s not AMOLED, but you do have to keep in mind this is a budget phone. We do get a 90Hz refresh rate, at least.
A 5,050mAh battery is included in the package
Nokia actually says that this phone will be able to last for 3 days on a single charge for some people. The phone includes a 5,050mAh battery, and in combination with the adaptive display refresh rate mode, it should be able to offer great battery life.
Do note that the device does support 18W wired charging, but only a 10W charger is included in the box. Wireless charging is not supported, though.
The ultrawide camera is not included this time around
A 50-megapixel main camera is backed by a 2-megapixel macro, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. There is no ultrawide camera here, which is surprising and disappointing. The Nokia G20 included a 5-megapixel ultrawide camera, and that was better than nothing.
The Unisoc T606 SoC fuels this smartphone. This is a 12 chip, and a considerable improvement over the Helio G35 processor that was included in the Nokia G20.
The Nokia G21 supports 4G connectivity, and it includes 4GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of internal storage. Android 11 comes pre-installed, though the phone is “ready for Android 12”, the company says. An audio jack is included on the phone.
The Nokia G21 comes in Nordic Blue and Dusk color options, both of which are shown below. The device’s pricing will start at €170, and it will become available soon.
