Nokia smartphones may not use the company’s brand new user interface called ‘Pure UI’. This UI was announced quite recently, and it was supposed to grace the company’s smartphones and other smart devices. That may not be the case, though.
Nokia smartphones won’t use ‘Pure UI’, and will seemingly still use the “old” logo
Are you confused? Well, we are too. HMD Global, a company behind Nokia smartphones, said the following: “Nokia smartphones will not be adapting the recently announced Nokia Pure design. The classic Nokia brand has an incredible history in mobile phones. Our Nokia phones continue the great momentum associated with the classic Nokia logo. We are proudly building and innovating on this heritage”.
So, by the looks of it, the Nokia logo rebrand that was announced at MWC 2023, and this new UI, won’t be present in Nokia smartphones. The company’s smartphones will still rely on the old logo, and stock-looking Android UI.
This new UI seems to be reserved for some of the company’s apps. If you use the Nokia WiFi app, you may get it, for example. Needless to say, that is strange. Why announce a brand new logo and user interface if you’re not planning to use them on your smartphones.
HMD Global even removed all content from the NokiaPure.com website
HMD Global even removed all content from the NokiaPure.com website. This is a rather odd decision by Nokia, especially when it comes to the logo. It turns out HMD Global will use two different Nokia logos, depending on the product, which is beyond odd.
It is what it is, though. If you love the company’s current smartphones, well, you’re in luck, as their software and logo will stay intact, it would seem. We would love for HMD Global to clarify things even more, to be quite honest. This just doesn’t make all that much sense, especially the logo part.
