iRobot has just made the 2-in-1 robot vacuum scene a lot more competitive with the Roomba Combo i5+
The iRobot Roomba Combo i5+ was announced back in September, and it was a rather surprising announcement, to be honest. It was the first time that the company announced a new 2-in-1 in a year. And the Roomba Combo i5+ was not the same type of 2-in-1 as the original Roomba Combo j7+.
Basically, instead of lifting the mopping pad up and over the vacuum when it goes over to the carpet, iRobot has the Roomba Combo i5+ shipping with two dustbins. One has the mopping pad attached, and one doesn’t. So the user needs to swap the bins to go from mopping to vacuuming. It’s not a huge deal. However, this does help bring down the cost of the Roomba Combo i5+ by about $300 compared to the Roomba Combo j7+.
With this robot vacuum, you can mop and vacuum your floors at the same time. It’s something we’ve been seeing more and more from the competition, as well as iRobot. The way iRobot is doing it is much better, in my opinion. Since it is actually completely off the floor when vacuuming.
Just as powerful as you’d expect from iRobot
When it comes to iRobot’s other Roombas, they do a very good job at cleaning your home. This is thanks to its suction power, as well as the brushes that it has included. The dual-rubber brushes in the center help it get closer to the ground to pick up more dirt and debris.
These rubber brushes are really great to use since they will never get tangled in hair. Instead, the hair gets pushed to the end. Making it super easy to remove the hair when you need to.
Let’s not forget about the auto-empty dock, which is included here since this is the plus model. The auto-empty dock will automatically empty the dustbin when it docks. It doesn’t do anything with the mop, unfortunately. But that’s another way that iRobot was able to keep the price lower here. The dock can hold dirt and debris from about 60 days of vacuuming. So there’s very little to do with the dustbin other than swapping it out.
