TCL is one of the smartphone companies with a large selection of budget phones to choose from. They range from being very budget friendly to being quite capable. One of the company’s latest devices, the TCL 40 XE 5G, just landed on Verizon.

So, let’s take a look at this phone’s specs. Obviously, the TCL 40 XE 5G won’t impress power users or people wanting the most fluid smartphone experience. It just covers the basics at a cheap price.

This phone has a 6.5-inch 720p+ LCD display that runs at a respectable 90Hz. It has a sampling rate of 180Hz, so that’s a plus for this display.

As for the internals, this phone uses the MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC. That’s a lower-powered chip; however, it’s the same chip that powers the TCL Stylus 5G, and that phone had impressive performance. It all comes down to software optimization. That’s backed up by 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. You can expand the storage up to a full terabyte.
